Frequently Asked Technical Question


* Target Drive Not Ready

When trying to do a copy and a message of ?Target Drive not Ready? is being displayed, that means that:

1. The blank discs already have data written on it.
2. The disc type is different from the source or master disc (i.e. you may only copy CD to CD, DVD to DVD, DVD-DL to DVD-DL, BD to BD, etc.).
3. The disc might be bad.
4. The drive may not detect the disc.

* Source Drive Not Ready

When trying to do a copy and a message of ?Source Drive not Ready? is being displayed, that means that:
1. The source drive has no disc in it.
2. The source drive is set to the wrong drive.
3. The drive cannot detect discs.

* Source Disc Empty

When trying to do a copy and a message of ?Source Disk Empty? is being displayed, that means that:
1. The disc on the top drive is blank and has no data written on it.
2. The source drive is set to the wrong drive.

* Target Overflow

Target Overflow generally means that the master disk has more information than the blank disk can hold.

* High Failure Rate or Receive NG Message

When trying to do a copy and the copy process fails.
Firmware Update
Step 1: Check the Firmware Code of your duplicator.

Scroll to Setup or Utilities and then press ENT key.
Scroll to System Info and then press ENT key.
View the controller version (Example: ver: Y.98U or ver: Y.9DJ)
Pay close attention to the last character of the version.
Example for version FW-Y9EK you will need to select the version FW-Y9JK.

Step 2: Select and Download the corresponding firmware of your duplicator.
* FW-Y9JJ
* FW-Y9JU
* FW-Y9JK
* FW-Y9JQ
* FW-Y9JS

Step 3: Burn the .bin file update to a blank CD, be sure that the disk is finalized.

NOTE: Never turn off or shutdown your Duplicator while update is in progress. Ensure that the power cable is connected securely to both your power outlet and your duplicator.
Please make sure you burn the files in a CD-R only.

* For Windows XP

Download the file to the desktop on your computer. Right click on the icon, select "Send To" and select the CD Drive. A bubble may appear on the bottom right that says you have files ready to be written to a CD Click on the bubble, that should open a window with the file. On the left column, select "Write this files to a CD".The Windows Writing Wizard should open automatically.Click Next and follow the on screen prompts to burn.

* For Windows Vista

Download the file to the desktop on your computer. Right click on the icon, select "Send To" and select the CD Drive. You will see a box open that reads "Prepare this blank disc". On the left corner, click on "Show formatting options". Select the "Mastered" option, then click Next.On the top of the browser box, click on the red button called "Burn to Disc" Click Next and follow the on screen prompts to burn.

* For Windows 7

Download the file to the desktop on your computer. Right click on the icon, select "Send To" and select the CD Drive.You will see a box open. Select the CD/DVD Player option (Compatible with the majority of players) and then click Next. On the top of the browser box, click on the red button called "Burn to Disc" Click Next and follow the on screen prompts to burn.

Step 4:Update your controller firmware

1. After the disc is burned, place the CD in the source drive of the duplicator.
2. Press and hold the ESC for 2-3 seconds.
3. Adv Setup should appear along with "UnderRun Protect".
4. Scroll down using the down arrow key to "Update Firmware", then press ENT.
5. It will show the current firmware version of the controller and the update firmware version.
6. It will prompt you to continue with the update.
7. Press ENT to confirm.
8. Once updated, default settings will be restored.


If you had previously adjusted any settings you will need to re-adjust your settings.
